Why You Should Have Your Spectacular Wedding in Kenya
Kenya offers the right combination of beautiful and romantic hotels, stunning scenery, and is easily accessible to visitors. A wedding in Kenya is an ideal opportunity for the bride, groom, and guests alike to also experience the romance and adventure of a Kenyan honeymoon. While the idea of arranging a wedding in a foreign country may seem daunting, the legalities of marrying in Kenya can be readily arranged.
Kenya is lucky to have many private game ranches or lodges which allows a myriad of choice for those interested in having their wedding in this country. For example, the bride and groom can get a special wedding package that can also include their guests. On the other hand, Kenya is also considered one of the most romantic destinations for those seeking to have their honeymoon here. There are many options for those couples that are searching for a private paradise of privacy and peace.
When you are planning for a wedding, let your imagination run wild and consider Kenya for a truly unforgettable day. The major choice facing couples considering a Kenyan wedding is choosing the backdrop for the day. While some settle for the beach, weddings can also be arranged in the bush, in tented wilderness camps, on riverbanks, in remote safari lodges, or wherever your imagination may take you.
Kenyan weddings can be informal and relaxed; barefoot on the beach, relaxing under canvas, or completely formal with black ties and wedding gowns in the bush. The cocktail of formality and wilderness has become a trademark of Kenya’s romantic safari lifestyle and is easier to arrange than you may think.
When a wedding is arranged in one of the beach resorts in Kenya, the reception place of the hotel is radically transformed and turned into a wedding chapel and decorated with stunning tropical flower. The ceremony itself is officiated by a pastor or marriage registrar which is then followed by a garden reception. The reception also gives the visitors the opportunity to sample some of the sumptuous Kenyan sea food. The evening dance then brings an end to a relaxed and joyful occasion.
The following is an option for a wedding ceremony at Galdessa Camp, Tsavo East National park.
Wedding in Galdessa Camp
Galdessa Camp is a small eco-tourism up-market tented lodge in Kenya’s largest park, Tsavo East National Park. Under the shade of the doum palms, the camp’s 8 spacious “bandas”(sort of semi-tented thatched bungalows) are comfortable, fresh, and elegant. Set well apart, they all face the river and the Yatta Plateau, the world’s largest fossilized lava flow (over 200km long).
The walls are made of canvas and mosquito netting tastefully set in timber frames. The natural woods, thatched roofs, stone tables and mosquito netting form a romantic interior which enhances the contact with the rhythms and sounds of the natural world outside.
The honeymoon suite is another romantic room that has its own sitting room, a platform where the guests can view the wild as well as a water wallow. This camp is also lucky to be located in one of the most best kept conservation projects and the guests will be delighted to see black rhinos within its vicinity.
The documents that are required to have a wedding in Kenya include passports, birth certificates, Certificate of No Impediment, decrees (for divorcees) or a death certificate, for those that have been widowed.
Couples need to be in the country three days before the wedding date and they also need to apply for a special wedding license from the government. On the day of their wedding, they will get a wedding certificate and after 4 working days, they will get another certified copy of the entry into the marriage registry.
